Fishmarket coming exhibition details and press releases.
The Fishmarket Gallery and arts centre is the flagship project of the Northampton Arts Collective (NAC) an independently run, not-for-profit arts organisation.
Featuring the largest gallery spaceoutside a city in the UK this impressive building has been transformed into a hub for creative activity The stunning main gallery is complemented by two smaller galleries and a sculpture / installationplinth, making it one of the most versatile exhibition and performance venues in the country.
More thana flat wall space, the 3,500ft2 gallery particularly welcomes artists whose work provides multiple routes of engagement and a stimulating experience for the visitor.
Annually we host three major shows of sixweeks, a site specific commission and two shows offering opportunity to art graduates and emerginglocal artists.
.We are proud to present two major exhibitions for the launch of our summer season.
In the MainGallery we present an exhibition by Louise Marchal - Play I> Pause II.
In Play I> Pause II Marchal considers how we reconcile our experience of the vibrant, frivolous, sensory assault of the modernworld with a natural desire to slow time, capture moments and quietly observe .
In Gallery Two we have an exhibition of new work by the acclaimed duo John Cake and Darren Neavealso known as The Little Artists - SmurfNet.
Their latest work identifies with the actions, strategies andmythology of the deceased German artist Martin Kippenberger.
Pieces in this new body of work include paintings that are actual London tube maps that have had the station names and wordingcovered with Tippex/Liquid Paper and replaced with collaged 'Smurf' head stickers.
Both exhibitions run from 11.04.2008 – 17.05.2008 please find enclosed further details and artistspress releases.
