Best Of Art Vinyl 2008

Thu 20 Nov 2008 - Sat 24 Jan 2009
On 23rd October music design gallery Art Vinyl launches its annual search for the year’s best vinyl record sleeves which are to be celebrated in exhibitions held in Art Vinyl’s gallery in East London, as well as in the Fishmarket.
Previous winners of the award were Hard-Fi’s stark Stars of CCTV in 2005, Thom Yorke’s The Eraser in 2006 and last year the winner from over 3,000 public votes was The Cribs album Man’s Needs, Woman’s Needs, Whatever.
Art Vinyl – creator of the unique Play & Display frame for 12” vinyl – along with graphic design and music industry experts has selected a shortlist of 50 sleeve designs for the award and voting is now open at www.artvinyl.com.
Art Vinyl founder and managing director Andrew Heeps said, “We are championing the art of vinyl. First the CD and then the download conspired to diminish the visual magic of the record sleeve. The Art Vinyl award is about celebrating the emotional resonance of the best sleeve designs from 2008”
From the beginning of November the Best Art Vinyl 2008 shortlist will be featured in exhibitions at the Art Vinyl Gallery in East London, Snap Galleries in Birmingham, Fishmarket Gallery in Northampton and the Perfect Pad Gallery in Norwich. All of the designs will be displayed in the Play & Display Flip Frame.
Voting will begin on October 23rd and the winners will be announced on January 5th 2009. Please indicate if you require the details of winners prior to the national press announcement.
